Hello fellow Chasers. Welcome to all our many new Chasers this week. Are you busy chasing down the minutes to Christmas?
Personally I have (been chasing down the minutes, I mean) to the first issue of Minute Chaser (lol). How’s that? I’m just so relieved all of it has come together nicely.
I’m really looking forward to having a bit of fun and more interaction with you in this ezine. I’ll also be trying out some ideas I have, and any that you might have. Let me know what you’d like to see here; in fact, any feedback will be appreciated.
Everywhere I go, the Christmas decor is up, and so are the prices of things. On the one hand, this festive atmosphere is so cheery. But then, one look at the price tags and my wallet squeezes itself tight and simply refuses to open up (lol). Ever have that feeling? Think I’ll stick to window-shopping for now.
Want to look better than your sister/brother-in-law this holiday? Our fitness guru tells how you can get mileage out of doing even yardwork! How inspiring is that? Must-read :o)
I hope you enjoy this issue. Keep smiling and turn your daily madness into fun. Ciao for now.

How to Have Happy Holidays
by Coach Rinatta Paries
Here come the holidays. How are they going to be for you this year? Will you end up stressed, tired, and overextended, emotionally and financially? Or will you end the holidays and start the new year joyful, rested, relaxed, fulfilled, and happy? Will you spend the holidays bemoaning the fact that you are single or that your relationship is not working or that you wish it was better, or will you use the holidays to improve your relationship situation?
Here is my advice for a sweet, calm, nourishing holiday season, for both singles and people in relationships.
It's not going to be perfect
I've known people who can pull off the perfect holiday season and enjoy every minute of it. They give just the right gifts, always wrapped with precision. They throw just the right holiday dinners and cocktail parties, always looking just right. They mingle and celebrate and still have plenty of energy left for everything else in their lives.
If you are like this and are able to do all or any of the above happily, without causing you or your loved ones stress, congratulations.
Most of us, however, try to live up to this image of perfection during the holiday season and either fail or end up miserable and stressed. If you want to feel differently this holiday season, create a different experience, act differently. Simply stop trying to make it perfect.
Reduce gift-giving.
Reduce or eliminate your gift-giving list, and even your card-sending list. Depending on how much simplification your life needs right now, perhaps simply calling people is enough of a holiday greeting. If you are going to give gifts, choose simple, meaningful, and thoughtful gifts: one great book, one thoughtfully selected scarf, or one special toy. It will be enough.
Simplify your entertaining list.
Host intimate pot luck at your place or celebrate in a restaurant. Even Thanksgiving dinner can be done at a restaurant—and it doesn't have to be turkey and stuffing, unless that's what you want.
Be selective about participating.
If you are invited to countless events this season, be selective about which ones you choose to attend. It's even ok to cancel or only go for a short time. Basically, eliminate stress in any way possible so that you have energy, time, and room to enjoy this time of the year.
Take time.
It's winter for many of us. It's cold. Even if you're in a warmer climate, the evenings have a chill to them. If you listen to your body, you may feel the need to draw in, to take time, to rest, to expand less energy. This is one reason the holiday season can be so very stressful—it goes against what our body and spirit naturally want this time of year. Many of us crave warmth and rest. So rest and take time, warm your body and soul, whatever that may mean for you.
Make peace with what you have.
It may be difficult at times to be happy when others have what we want and we are left wanting. It may be difficult to watch couples in love if your relationship is not working well, or if you are single and don't want to be. It may be difficult to see others spend money if you have none or are struggling.
Yet making peace with how things are right now is one step toward having what you want in the future. Making peace with unfulfilled desires is not the same as giving up on your dream or surrendering to never having it fulfilled. It is simply a way of having peace now—one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself. This is not the same as denial. Peace is acceptance, a fundamental way of embracing reality as it is right now. Peace frees you up to take action to cause different results in the future.
Cultivate gratitude.
Our circumstances often cannot be changed quickly enough to satisfy us. Yet, our attitude can be changed almost instantaneously which helps to change our circumstances over time. This holiday season, work on gratitude for what you have—in relationships, in love, in material possessions, in family, in community, in things that nourish and sustain you.
Be with people who love you.
For those of us in relationships and with families, the advice is simple. If things are going well, nourish your relationships during this time so they may be even better. If things are not going so well, this is the time to use the utmost care to improve your relationships, and to give and draw nourishment from them. There are many tools to do this. Talk, listen, forgive, surrender, get help, read, write, pray, study.
For those who are single and especially for those with no community, this is the time to reach out to groups of like-minded people. If you could find a group of like-minded people, what would be the topic or idea or cause or hobby they would be gathered about? Would it be reading, or sports, or movies, or personal growth, or spirituality?
Whatever the topic maybe, find this group of people. And as terrifying as it may be, go be with them. You will be amazed at how welcoming they will be, especially at this time of the year.

6 Fun Fitness Activities
by Kathy Burns-Millyard
Exercising and staying fit doesn't have to mean hard work. Simply being active will help you get or stay in good shape. So with that said, here are some enjoyable activities that can help with your fitness goals too.
Bicycling
When you ask many adults when the last time they rode a bike is, they cannot answer. Although bicycling is a favorite pastime, many adults do not take advantage of this great option for exercise. Not only does bike riding exercise the body and build a stronger cardiovascular system, it allows you to get out and enjoy nature, fresh air, and see new sites.
Jogging or Walking
Both jogging and walking are GREAT ways to get fit. Not only do they tone the muscles, relieve stress, create a healthier heart, and improve lung capability, they make you look wonderful, which in turns helps you get excited about doing other exercise for fitness activities.
Swimming
Swimming is an excellent way to get into and stay in shape. If you do not own a pool, many high schools have aquatic centers, or there is always the YWCA or YMCA, or your local gym. Many offer water aerobic classes that will help you tighten your body, lose weight, and get a good overall workout.
Tennis Anyone?
Tennis is not only a fun sport, but also a great way to exercise. You do not have to be a Venice Williams to play; in fact, you do not even have to be good. Just running after the ball alone will help get you into shape. This is a great way to strengthen your cardiovascular system and lose weight. You can find tennis courts in just about every city and if you would like to play but have no idea how, lessons are reasonable.
Tip: Raquetball is sort of a "one person tennis". If you don't have someone to play tennis with, or you aren't feeling sociable, try raquetball instead.
Dancing
Dancing is so much fun and whether you enjoy a slow, Ballroom dance or a nightclub packed with people all moving to heart-pumping techno, as long as you are moving, it really does not matter what type of dance or music. The whole idea is to move your body. Dancing has long been recommended as an avenue to fitness.
Tip: Belly Dancing is an excellent workout for your stomach, waist and hips ladies!
VCR
If you have a VCR or DVD, rather than just using it for your favorite comedy or action-packed movie, try sticking in some good workout tapes. Even taking 15 minutes every day to work out will get you started. Try that for two weeks and you will be surprised at the results. Once you see that 15 minutes a day makes a difference, you will be encouraged to increase the time spent.
And one of my personal favorites... Yardwork!
Whether you're pulling weeds, planting flowers, mowing the grass or chopping wood: All of these activities can help you get into better shape. Don't cheat yourself though. Using a riding mower to cut the grass won't help you use the muscles or get your blood pumping ;)
So go out and get active, have fun, and work on getting or staying fit too!

Hassles in the Air
By Laura Quarantiello
Planning some air travel this holiday season? Better bring a book to read. And get to the airport - e-a-r-l-y!
Although the airline industry isn't back up to its pre-9/11 passenger load levels, the number of people traveling on the nation's airlines is increasing, just in time for the holiday season. More people, more flights equal more airport bottlenecks. That's the theory, anyway. Due to congressionally-mandated budget cuts for the Transportation Security Administration there will be fewer security screeners to staff airport checkpoints. The result may well mean longer lines and more headaches for passengers traveling over the holidays. Although the TSA is hiring part-time screeners, transferring screeners from less busy terminals and opening extra security lanes, you could still find yourself stuck in full waiting mode! A book or magazine and a healthy dose of patience will help. You can reduce your chance of running into delays by following a few simple tips.
Get there early! You've heard the experts say to arrive 90 minutes to two hours before your scheduled departure time. They're not kidding. Do yourself a favor and show up early to allow yourself time for parking, check-in and screening.
Pack smart. If you're carrying gifts on your trip don't wrap them until after you reach your destination. Security officials may need to open wrapped presents if they trigger and alarm, and that will delay you even more. (For more on smart packing see: http://www.tiare.com/apacking.htm)
Dress for success. Avoid wearing shoes, clothing, jewelry and accessories that contain metal. These often set off security devices. Put metal objects such as jewelry, change, keys, cell phones, pagers and PDAs in your carry-on bag.
Protect your equipment. Place all undeveloped film and cameras with film in your carry-on luggage. Put identification tags on all your bags, especially electronic items such as your laptop computer, PDA or cell phone.
Remember the 1 + 1 rule: Carry-on baggage is limited to one carry-on plus one personal item. A personal item can be a purse, small backpack, brief case, and camera case or laptop computer.
A little pre-planning and a bit of patience should see you through your trip. Welcome to the holidays, enjoy your visit, and don't forget to bring a book!

Over Coffee
I didn’t receive any responses to the tofu question, so I have none to post here. I’m leaving the question here for another week. Hopefully I’ll get some responses to post here next week. Remember, there’re no right or wrong answers, this is just a fun way for you to get free advertising.
Kit’s Take
Not all Asians are crazy about tofu. I’m not (lol). I’ll eat it if it’s on the menu but I wouldn’t go to any lengths for it. Also I like it better sweet than savory. I love soy bean curd blended to a smooth white consistency served with a touch of sugary syrup. The sweetness seems to bring out the best in tofu’s notorious tastelessness. But lately I seem to have acquired a taste for the savory too, if it’s done MY way.
This week’s question is:
What’s your favorite tofu dish or style of cooking?
Submit your response (remember to tell me where you’re writing from :o), and your 3-line by 60-character classified here.
