How To Get Things Done - Proven Strategies To Help You Smash Through Your To Do List
by Sharon Langford
Are you one of those people who set out with all best intentions to get things done? Do you have a big ‘to do list’ which you are constantly reviewing, re-writing and moving about your desk?
Are you easily distracted by other things - which you do and then write on your list so that you can cross them off?
If so, then, I’m afraid to say, the diagnosis is that you are a serial procrastinator….. you love to put things off.
There are all sorts of reasons that you may be putting things off. The size of a list can be daunting. Perhaps you’re not sure where to start on a task. And, there may well be items on the list you just don’t want to do – are they difficult, dull? Be ruthless with your list – remove anything which:
* you don’t have to do * you know that you are never going to do * are tasks or activities you think you should do because others have suggested it.
Once you’ve got your list focused with only items YOU NEED to do then it will seem less daunting - even if some of those things are a little dull and difficult.
Next, you need to focus on each item and:
1. Identify how you will reward yourself for getting it done 2. Think ahead to the finished result and then work backwards breaking the task into smaller chunks (you might want to reward yourself for each small step too!) 3. Check out the implications of putting this task off any further 4. Focus on the benefits of completing the job; what will doing the job give you (ie. more time, you’ll feel more relaxed, the house/office will be tidier) 5. Identify the first small step you can take and take it 6. Do enough; avoid perfectionism, it’s a great way to ensure you put off completing a task. 7. Make a personal commitment to doing the task - set a personal deadline and remember your reward.
You don’t have to do everything at once. One strategy is to select one or two items on your list that you will definitely do the next day – do them and ignore the rest of the list for that day. At the end of the day, review your list and choose the two tasks you will work on the next day. Focused and bite sized chunks will enable you to complete the things you need to do with less stress. And you'll have a shorter, focused and more manageable to do list.

Natural Way To Boost Metabolism
by Adrian Whittle
The process of metabolism converts foods that we eat into energy, nutrients and vitamins that the body needs to function. The body uses hormones to regulate the process and enzymes to chemically break down the food.
Boosting the metabolism merely means increasing the amount of calories needed for the metabolism to carry out this process. By boosting the metabolism a person expends more calories that might be otherwise used to create fat.
Thus by boosting the metabolism, people hope to lose fat which makes them look or feel better and is healthier for them in the long run. This article will cover a natural way to boost metabolism.
Natural ways to boost metabolism fit into two categories. The first is foods and supplements that you can take. The second is your lifestyle, how active you are and the types of activities that you do.
There are many supplements and foods to take that will increase your metabolism. I will mention some of the popular alternatives.
Green Tea has an active ingredient known as epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG. This is said to increase the body heat during the digestion and metabolism of food. This is known as thermogenesis and will increase the overall consumption of calories that may aid weight loss.
Green tea can be taken as an extract or as a drink. Many green tea products contain caffeine that has been touted as a way to increase the metabolism but given that there are other side effects excessive caffeine consumption it is not recommended. In the case of green tea, drink it in moderation or look for caffeine free products.
Cayenne Pepper is thought to increase the metabolism of dietary fats and suppress the appetite. The active ingredient in cayenne pepper is Capsaicin.
Whilst it might not have a dramatic effect on increasing your metabolism, cayenne pepper is a popular ingredient in spicy foods so if you like these types of foods, cayenne pepper can be used often.
Vitamin C is a popular supplement for people with colds but some research suggests that it may help to boost the metabolism. The tests showed that people taking vitamin C used up to 100 more calories a day than those not taking the vitamin. The resting metabolism was thought to increase to account for more calorie usage.
Despite adding many supplements to your diet you will not increase your metabolism significantly unless you do exercise. There are two forms of exercise that can boost metabolism. These are building muscle exercises and losing fat exercises.
Building muscle is a good way to boost your metabolism because the body needs to work harder to maintain muscle than fat. Thus more calories will be used up. Typical ways to build up muscle are weight lifting but if this bores you then strenuous work in the garden can provide this muscle building exercise.
Aerobic exercise is a good way to reduce fat and is recognized as beneficial to other parts of the body, particularly the cardiovascular system and the heart.
Aerobic exercise will boost your resting metabolism during and after the initial exercise. Aerobic classes are popular in gyms but walking, running, dancing or playing some kind of ball sport are all good aerobic exercises. The more aerobic exercise you do the more your metabolism will be boosted.
