Editor’s Scribbles

Hello fellow Chasers new and current,

Happy New Year! Well, here we are 11 days into the new year though it seems a tad longer for me because I’ve been so busy getting the hang of my kids’ schedules for the new school year.

I’ve been up since 4:30 this morning and I haven’t stopped since. I still have to pick up my daughter later and take the brood out for dinner as I’m too tired to cook. It’s looking to be another 18-hour day for me.

I hope you’re having a more laid-back time than me 2_smile04. For now, I’m going to leave you guys with our first issue of the year. Enjoy.

Don't Waste Your Todays On Your Tomorrows

by Sheri Falcone

In my opinion, we are a society that seems to have a preoccupation with the past or have a tendency to live in the future. So often people feel that certain events or circumstances must take place in order for them to have, feel or experience what they want. Such belief's keep them living in the future - waiting for that something to come and make them happy. They are stuck.

Do these statements seem familiar to you? Have you said or heard them; "As soon as I finish college, I will ..., When my children start school and I have more time, I will...., If only I was married, I could ...., When my business gets off the ground, I will ..., When my divorce is final, I will ...., When I get a new job, I will...and my favorite, When I have enough money, I will....

These statements are the what if's and "when's". These are ideas about being happy when. But what about being happy NOW? We are giving up our today for the dreams of tomorrow.

Do you believe that you have to wait to be happy? Or that you have you earn your happiness? Or that events or circumstances have to occur before you can be happy and feel free? I say, "Live It Now", "Feel It Now", "Experience It Now", don't wait for tomorrow.

I believe that all you need to be happy is to decide that you want to be happy. Appreciate what you have now. If you are always waiting for tomorrow, today will never come.

Not that we don't want to dream and create tomorrows, but don't sacrifice our todays. Life is too short to be wasting it on waiting for the what if's to come.

Are you stuck or do you realize that you must resonate with what you desire so that you can connect with what you desire?

Do you know that if you think about, talk about, and dream about what you desire, you can create your own reality? You must think about what you want - NOT what you don't want. Whatever your put your attentions on is what you will create.

If you want happiness, you must experience happiness now. Enjoy living for today. Appreciate all the little pleasures in your everyday life, for there are many.

Laugh to your hearts content because laughter can heal many wounds. Relish in your accomplishments. Learn from your mistakes. And then learn to dream to create your tomorrows.

If you believe that an event or circumstance outside yourself is a prerequisite for your happiness, then you lose your own empowerment.

If you are relying on outside forces to come your way and make you happy, you lose your own empowerment. Take control of your life and know that your happiness is always created within your thoughts and mind.

Your thoughts can always be changed from negative to positive. If you don't believe it - try it. You'll be amazed in how you life can be changed in 30 days of deliberate positive thoughts.

Our future is not a destination - but a journey. The unfolding of today and the now is what is. Experience every day to the fullest and live life now the way you want to be. Embrace who you are becoming and set your attentions and intentions on what you desire.

So I ask you "What exactly are you waiting for to have all your dreams come true"? LIVE AND EXPERIENCE TODAY.

Keep Your New Years' Resolution to Get Fit

by Brian Tilley

After being a fitness instructor for the past 28 years I find the first of the year as a fascinating view of human resolve...or the lack thereof.

Year after year virtually every health club is swamped with people determined to get into shape, lose weight, or, in most cases, both. They are sincere in their attempt, their motives are valid...but all too often they will give up and fall back into their old ways.

What I have learned is that the most important part of any attempt to begin a regular physical fitness program is finding the time that will fit into your existing schedule. We all have multiple demands on our time and any new demand will quickly fall to the bottom of the list if it competes with your current schedule.

Finding the right time to workout is much more important than what type of workout you want to do. The ability to plan a workout when you know you have some time free will go a long way to insuring you follow through. Virtually all health and fitness clubs offer many types of programs, both for group exercise or individual instruction. This will also make it easier to find a program you will enjoy and look forward to doing.

Take a few minutes and write down your schedule. Be sure to put in the time you spend with family and friends. You then want to find at least two times a week, though three or four will be much better, that you have at least 90 minutes of free time.

Be realistic and include travel time, changing into your workout clothes, and showering after you are done, into your time slot. The feeling of being rushed will quickly lead to putting your new resolve on the back burner.

We are all creatures of habit, and what you are primarily trying to do is 'create' a new habit. One that will not only improve your physical health, but will also help you deal with the stress we seem to have too much of these days. Creating this new habit will be much easier if you give it a space to develop in.

Finding the time is the secret to getting over the hump of staying with any fitness program. It is the critical component that will allow you to go and workout when you may not feel like it...and we all sometimes don't feel like it.

The days when you don't feel like exercising are always the most satisfying when you do it anyways. They reinforce your confidence and give you the incentive to strive for even higher levels of fitness. It becomes a self-fulfilling and very rewarding use of your precious time.
